Website and Draft Gorge Telecom Plan Evaluation
• Warm Springs tribe prefers "tribal government"
as a name
• Include reference links to free WiFi sites
• Include fiber optics and cell coverage and wifi
to the table and legend
• Provide "What’s Happening" column
instead of current events
• Reference Benefits to Teleconsortium members in
draft plan/report
• CGEDA is more appropriate lead agency on some strategies.
Add column that shows lead agency
• Reference State of Oregon Health Care Consortium
as piggy back strategy
• On list of strategies change priority of item III.3
to Low; item IV.1 to medium
• Include links to local providers’ webpages
Marketing Ideas
• Note that Newsweek has new article that lists Hermiston
as top wireless area.
• Improve the number and perhaps placement of cell
towers in the region. People traveling through and to our
area are not likely to think of us as being a "wired"
community if they can't even use their cell phones.
• It would be helpful to create freeway signs designating
WiFi areas in the communities.
Next Steps
• Glenn will give Adrian a list of GorgeNet’s
WiFi Hotspots.
• Consultants will prepare an updated draft website
up for providers to review and provide input.
• Consultants will send out a draft Gorge Regional
Telecommunications Plan to GT members to ask for feedback
at the next meeting.
• Next Meeting: July 12th at 1:30 at GorgeNet meeting
room.
